Brownsville Historical Society

Brownsville Historical Society is a nonprofit organization founded in March of 1965.

The organization promotes the history of Brownsville Pennsylvania and operates, Nemacolin Castle, as a historical site and museum.    

Owned by Fayette County, Nemacolin Castle has been entrusted to Brownsville Historical Society to provide historical tours of the building, assist with maintaining the artifacts and serve as the care-takers of the building and property.  

Funds raised from tours, rentals and other sources are used for the operations of the museum, property maintenance and on-going restoration.  

Brownsville Historical Society offers membership for individuals who wish to contribute to the efforts to keep Nemacolin Castle open and to preserve history.
